Privacy Policy

This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) discloses the privacy practices of the Transit Authority of the City of Omaha, dba METRO, a political subdivision of the State of Nebraska, organized and existing under the Transit Authority Law (i.e., Neb. Rev. Stat. §§14-1801 et seq.), (“METRO,” “we,” or “us”) concerning information we collect, store, and obtain by and through users (“you”, “your,” or “user(s)”) of the METRO website (http://www.ometro.com/), the ORBT website (http://www.rideorbt.com  (collectively, the “Websites”) and the MyRideOMA mobile app (the “App”), and through other interactions and communications users have with METRO (collectively, the “Services”). 


By using or accessing the Websites, App, and Services or by otherwise providing METRO with Personal Information, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy, and you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information.  METRO will not sell or disclose your information for any other purpose without your consent, unless required by law.
Further, this Privacy Policy does not apply to any Third Party Service Providers. 


PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED
Personal information (“Personal Information”) identifies or describes a person, or can be directly linked to a specific individual.  METRO stores and maintains any Personal Information you knowingly provide us.  The Website, App and our Services may use your Personal Information included in any of your interactions or communications to provide you with pertinent transit information such as, but not limited to, proximity of bus stop and route location(s), real time bus arrival by push notifications, and OAuth logins.


LOCATION INFORMATION COLLECTED
The App collects user location information “(Location Information”) to provide and assist you with pertinent transit information for trip planning and nearby transit bus stops and route locations.  The App uses your current precise location via global positioning system (GPS), or other network location sources like WiFi.  The App also uses access to your device storage data to retain information regarding your preferences and settings.  The App location services must be turned on and available on your device to utilize transit trip planning.


INFORMATION RETENTION PERIOD
METRO will retain any and all Personal Information and Location Information collected, stored, or processed for as long as it remains necessary or as required by law.  Retention of any and all Personal Information and Location Information collected, stored, or processed by Third Party Service Providers are governed by the privacy policies of such providers.


THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
METRO engages third party software and/or service providers for various needs, including but not limited to, the collection, storage, and/or processing of information (“Third Party Service Provider”).   Third Party Service Providers engaged by METRO, include but are not limited to, TripSpark, Google Analytics, Google Maps, Google OAuth, Google reCAPTCHA, Facebook, Twitter, Twilio, and Bitly.

Information about Google’s privacy policy may be obtained from http://www.google.com/privacy.html.  Information about Facebook’s privacy policy may be obtained from https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy.  Information about Twitter’s privacy policy may be obtained from https://twitter.com/en/privacy.  Information about Twilio’s privacy policy may be obtained from https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy.  Information about Bitly’s privacy policy may be obtained from http://bit.ly/pages/privacy.
Any Websites, Apps or Services provided by Third Party Service Providers are governed by the terms and conditions and privacy policies of such providers.  METRO is not responsible for the privacy practices of Third Party Service Providers.


COOKIES
A cookie is a small file which can be placed on your device by web servers when you visit certain websites.  Certain information may be automatically collected by cookies.  You may set your web browser to warn you whenever a website attempts to place a cookie on your devise or refuse to accept cookies.  Third Party Service Providers engaged by METRO may use cookies collected during your visit to the Websites, App, and/or Services for the purpose of facilitating pertinent transit system information, such as, but not limited to, user preference statistics, trip planning, and service changes.

 
CANCELING ALERTS
You may cancel your subscription, receipt of notifications for bus arrival, detours and other pertinent transit system information at any time.  You may cancel your subscription by unchecking the New Subscriptions box.   You may cancel reoccurring notifications by clicking to turn off or delete the notification.


SECURITY
To protect your Personal Information, METRO takes reasonable safeguards and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.


CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
METRO does not knowingly collect, use or disclose information from children under the age of 13.  If METRO learns that we have collected information of a child under the age of 13 without first receiving parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information within a reasonable time.  If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 13 has provided information to METRO, please contact us and steps will be taken to delete such information within a reasonable time.


CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
METRO reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy without notice.
